Founded in 1849, the Monks of New Melleray Abbey have been providing hand-crafted caskets directly to the general public for over a decade. They use local wood, much of it coming from their own award-winning 1200 acre forest. Their timberlands are managed to be a sustainable eco-system, and the monks plant a tree in honor of each child for which the casket is made. The caskets are blessed by a monk craftsman, and a mass is offered in their church in memory of your loved one, with the child's name added to their Memorial Book.
The monks view making children's caskets as a corporal work of mercy. Each casket is crafted as if it were a cradle, transporting the child to a better place.
These beautifully made caskets are thoughtfully designed and skillfully crafted by monks. They use only the finest materials available, including Premium Red Oak.
The Youth Casket measures:
Outside: 65" L x 22.75" W x 17" H

The closed casket has a beveled raised top and a double cross design on the lid. Additionally a keepsake cross is included for you to take home. The soft bedding is cream colored cotton with a matching pillow. A latch secures the closure.
